Robinson Avenue closing, detour June 6
The planned June 6 closure of the State Route (SR) 223/Robinson Avenue CSX railroad crossing requires up to a four-day detour. As weather permits, this work shall begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday continuing until Sunday, June 10.
The detour route will be marked as Wrightsboro Road to Jimmie Dyess Parkway to Gordon Highway down to Robinson Avenue (detour map included here). While local residents may find shorter alternate routes, this detour is necessary for all trucks. Trucks cannot use Katherine Street due to the steep grade at the railroad crossing on this local street.
The Transportation Investment Act funded project covers a 1.8 mile section beginning near Wrightsboro Road and extending toward Gordon Highway in the city of Grovetown. Due to extensive utility relocation delays the official completion date is September 30, 2018.
